Hi!
I'm Shelleybrooke - C.E.O., Hot Rails Inc. - but more than that - I'm a MOM - which is how my partner, Drew Hines, & I, got into this business in the first place.

Drew's son, Josh, was a 12 year old skater - and we were consistently called at 10 pm every night by our local finest to come and pick him up - He had been grinding on the town hall steps...
It is ridiculous to think that you can give a child a pair of skates, send them out the door to play, and realistically expect them to stick around . . . let alone make it home for curfew and homework!

The "Build it at Home Ourselves" attempt nearly gave me a nervous break down. But it was the "nail in the knee" that was the last straw!

Drew, having been in the metal fabrication business for 20 years, soon returned with a Cheshire smile and said "Guess what.... We're going to make & sell SAFE grind rails for parents like us!"
So Hot Rails was born. . . Our goal:

• - to eliminate all sharp edges
  
• - to figure out a functional design that could stand on its own (with out being fastened down) so that if a child missed - the rail would move out of the way and no one would get hurt
  
• - to make the rail easy to use so that everyone could have fun.
  

After our FIRST YEAR in business, we can proudly say that we have a flawless safety record!
You will notice that they wobble just a little . . if they were stiff, they would be knocked over every time - and would not help anyones' self esteem.

The center support does not touch the ground, it is only there so that we could allow some spring in the rail (once again to make it easier to use) and not worry that the "BIG KID" would stress it out.

There are no welds to crack. The GRIND SPINE base has no rough spots to catch a skate. The RAILS are between 24 and 4 inches off the ground - and of course - have no steps underneath!
Thousands of skaters tested our rails on the NISS ( National InLine Skate Series) TOUR '96 and '97 in the Hot Rails Interactive Area.
Drew now is an advisor to the National Skatepark Federation, which was formed to promote more, and safer skateparks across the nation.
